Electronic wordbuilder

The computer fully monitors and controls the child’s work. Mladinska Knjiga publishing house, together with the computer company i-Rose d.o.o. from Laško issued a CD-ROM entitled Wordbuilder. The program is designed for the initial literacy of children aged from seven to nine. The multimedia project is intended for group work in schools and independent learning and work at home.

Wordbuilder, which was professionally made by Viljenka Jalovec on the basis of a book with the same title published three years ago, consists of five games. In the game Wordbuilder, the child gets acquainted with the pictures of the pictorial-letter wordbuilder, made by Igor Ribič, which illustrate different letters. The Voices-Letters game strengthens children’s auditory and visual perception and differentiation of initial sounds and letters. The purpose of the game Connections is to perceive and distinguish between final and initial sounds in words. The child has to find the longest path by connecting the pictures. The fourth game Words with pictures introduces children to more than two hundred new concepts, and at the same time teaches them to write years correctly. The last part is Zodba, which introduces the child to close observation, helps him develop logical thinking and introduces him to reading with understanding.

The child’s computer constantly monitors, checks and warns him. The right solutions and the wrong attempts add up over time. The audiovisual technique of didactic play enables the connection between auditory and visual recognition of symbols, so the instructions are written and audible, which is a special value of didactic play, as it enables independence without the constant help of adults.

With the publication of the electronic wordbuilder, the company also opened a special section on the home page on the Internet, so that users can report their comments and get more necessary information.
